Everything you need to know about caring for your scaly friends
🦎 Reptile Care
What do I need to set up a new reptile enclosure?
You'll need a properly sized terrarium, substrate (appropriate for your species), heat source (lamp or mat), UVB lighting, thermometer/hygrometer, water dish, hiding spots, and climbing branches or decor. We offer complete starter kits!
How often should I feed my bearded dragon?
Juvenile bearded dragons need feeding 2-3 times daily with live insects and fresh greens. Adults can be fed once daily with 80% vegetables and 20% insects. Always provide fresh water daily.
What temperature should my ball python's enclosure be?
Warm side: 88-92°F (31-33°C), cool side: 78-80°F (25-27°C), nighttime drop to 75°F (24°C). Use a thermostat to regulate heat sources and prevent burns.
Do all reptiles need UVB lighting?
Diurnal (day-active) reptiles like bearded dragons, iguanas, and many turtles need UVB for vitamin D3 synthesis. Nocturnal species like ball pythons and leopard geckos benefit from low-level UVB but can survive without if properly supplemented.
How do I maintain proper humidity for my reptile?
Use a hygrometer to monitor humidity. Mist the enclosure, provide a large water bowl, use moisture-retaining substrate (coconut fiber, sphagnum moss), or add a humid hide. For desert species, keep lower humidity with good ventilation.
How often should I clean my reptile's enclosure?
Spot clean daily (remove waste, uneaten food). Deep clean monthly with reptile-safe disinfectant, replace substrate, and sanitize all decor. Always wash hands before and after handling.
📦 Shipping & Delivery
Do you ship live reptiles?
Yes! We ship live reptiles via overnight delivery through FedEx Priority Overnight or UPS Next Day Air. All packages are climate-controlled and marked "Live Animal". Shipping is only Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend delays.
What is your live arrival guarantee?
We offer a 100% live arrival guarantee. If your reptile arrives dead or in poor health, contact us within 2 hours of delivery with photos and we will refund or replace immediately. Weather exceptions apply – we monitor temperatures closely.
How are reptiles packaged for shipping?
Reptiles are placed in a breathable cloth bag inside an insulated Styrofoam box with heat/cold packs as needed. The box is clearly labeled "Live Harmless Reptile" and "This Side Up". We use Del-i-va packaging approved for live animals.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently we ship only within the United States (excluding Hawaii and Alaska due to temperature risks). We are working on international options – sign up for our newsletter to be notified.
🛒 Products & Supplies
What brands of enclosures do you carry?
We stock Exo Terra, Zoo Med, ReptiZoo, and our own Night Fall signature line of PVC and glass enclosures. All are tested for durability, safety, and proper ventilation.
Are your feeder insects gut-loaded?
Yes! All our feeder insects (crickets, dubia roaches, mealworms, black soldier fly larvae) are gut-loaded with high-calcium, nutrient-rich feed 24 hours before shipping. We also include a moisture source.
What substrates do you recommend for snakes?
For tropical species: coconut husk, cypress mulch, or sphagnum moss. For arid species: aspen shavings, reptile carpet, or paper towels (for quarantine). Avoid cedar and pine – they are toxic.
Do you sell live plants for bioactive setups?
Yes! We offer a selection of reptile-safe live plants including pothos, snake plant, bromeliads, and ficus. All are pesticide-free and quarantined before shipping.
🏥 Health & Safety
How do I know if my reptile is sick?
Signs include lethargy, loss of appetite, wheezing, discharge from eyes/nose, mouth breathing, abnormal stool, swelling, or changes in skin color. If you notice any, quarantine and consult a reptile veterinarian immediately.
Do you sell reptiles that are already tamed?
Most of our reptiles are socialized and handled regularly. We note temperament on each product page – "beginner-friendly", "hand-tamed", or "experienced only". All come with a health guarantee.
What supplements do I need for my reptile?
Calcium powder with D3 (for reptiles without UVB) or without D3 (if UVB is provided). Multivitamins once weekly. Dust insects lightly before feeding. We carry Repashy, Zoo Med, and Arcadia brands.
